How to Decide What to Make

This is sometines a a challenge. Only last night my friends and I sat around my sewing table coming up with all kinds of things we want to make – but where to start!
I am considering putting a random pile of fabric on the table next week and asking everyone to pick one and sew something from it, because there are times I find the best way to resolve the ‘what to make’ dilemmas is to pick a fabric from the cupboard and see if it is asking to be made into something in particular.
Other times I have made lots of useful things and I want to make something that is just for fun.
Last night I was getting a bit tired of making things for other people so I made myself a skirt – now that hardly ever happens!!
So looking at this competition http://veryberryhandmade.co.uk/2012/01/16/giveaway-resolved-to-sew-2012/ I resolve to sew at least one ‘new’ thing each week, between all my regular projects.
